Control Yourself at Open Web Vancouver

I'll be giving a talk about Open Source Microblogging with Laconica at the upcoming Open Web Vancouver event in Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm excited about this upcoming event, not least because of the hilarious Web site ("Open Webus Vancouverus"!) that's singlehandedly bringing the ol' parchment background image back into style.

Seriously, the question of what it means to have an "Open Web", and the important of openness in our online lives, is one of crucial importance. It's one of the fundamental questions that autonomo.us is trying to address, and it's a principle that guides the design and development of identi.ca. I hope that discussions about Laconica can contribute to that conversation.

And, hey: Vancouver! What a town!

Looking forward to seeing friends there. If you can't make it, you can follow dents about Open Web Vancouver on identi.ca using the #owv09 hashtag.
