Upgrade mostly complete
Our upgrade on Wednesday went... well... we're giving it a C right about now. Some parts have been great, like the new features that we get with our new 0.8.0 pre-release version of Laconica. But we've also moved to new hosting and we're rolled out on the status.net network, and that's meant some instability.
Right now we know of at least a few problems with the site, which we're working hard to fix:
- Some users can't log in, or do anything else. (The error they get is "bad session token".) This can be fixed by logging out of the browser and clearing cookies, but we're working on a solution that doesn't require that kind of interaction. Update: seems to be fixed.
- Our XMPP daemon is having problems staying alive, so incoming and outgoing XMPP notices are not yet working. Update: at long last, our XMPP ingoing and outgoing messages seem to be working again. We have some tuning to do, but we're feeling pretty confident about this.
- We've had occasional outages on the Web site itself, which we're investigating. Update: seems to be working well again.
We really appreciate the patience identi.ca users have had with the new service. We're certain that this period of instability will be brief and that our new platform will bring enough benefits to make it worthwhile. Thanks again, and watch this blog post for more info.
