StatusReport: StatusNet 0.9.4 Beta, SXSW 2011 Panel Picker, GSoC finals approaching!

Latest updates
A new beta of StatusNet 0.9.4 has been installed on the StatusNet cloud sites this week. The full 0.9.4 version will be available soon.
A brief glitch with 0.9.4beta1 caused some messages from 2008 to be re-posted to identi.ca on Tuesday, and so the initial beta release was delayed; this has been resolved, and on Wednesday we upgraded the StatusNet cloud to 0.9.4beta2.
The upcoming South by SouthWest (SXSW) 2011, that will take place from March 11th until the 20th, has an online Panel Picker that allows you to "have a significant voice in programming Interactive, Film, and Music conference activities for SXSW 2011". Evan Prodromou (CEO and founder of StatusNet) has proposed a panel discussion for the SXSW 2011. You can vote for the federated social web panel at south by southwest 2011 proposed by Evan today! Blaine Cook, the former lead developer at Twitter, has also proposed a panel discussion for the SXSW 2011. You can also vote for the why & how of decentralized web identity panel proposed by Blaine today!
Recent Mentions of StatusNet
There have been a number of press mentions of the latest StatusNet funding that was led by FirstMark Capital, and joined by BOLDstart Ventures, iNovia Capital and Montreal Start Up, totaling $2.3 Million. These include Funding roundup - week ending 08/06/10 Exelate, PlacePop, Rapportive, Recurly, Redbeacon, StatSheet, StatusNet, YouSendIt, and Zulily, StatusNet Raises $2.3 Million for Enterprise Microblogging, Twitter rival StatusNet raises USD1.4m, StatusNet gets $1.27m additional funding, $2.3m raised to date, and Open-Source, Enterprise Twittering's StatusNet Funded.
In a recent post from Go4webapps entitled StatusNet – Bring the Conversations to Your Domain, the release of the StatusNet Desktop client is discussed and it mentions how "users get a more personalized and customized offering which in turn gives the business more control over the different operations and aspects of their Status.Net account."
In another post entitled Google Wave WILL LiveOn!, the author talks about how "StatusNet is a great example of how federated systems could work for a service like Twitter."
And lastly, in another post in which StatusNet was mentioned, entitled Status: Open Source Twitter, the author had been told that StatusNet is "the wordpress of the microblogging world".
