We released a small update to our StatusNet Desktop Client as version 0.9.1. This incremental release is based upon the same codebase as our recently released StatusNet Android mobile client built on Titanium Appcelerator, that you can get now in the Android App Market, and the upcoming iPhone client. The iPhone client is synchronized with the codebase, but we are still in the AppleStore waiting queue. Thanks to @zach, @brionv, and @sammy at StatusNet for working so hard on these clients! Please let them know when you get a chance, congrats and thank you!

Here are highlights in the update:

Notice and avatar caching (for better performance)
  All groups view
Play sounds when new notices arrive and when sending notices
  New theming and configuration subsystems
Increased stability & lots of bug fixes!
User avatars display in new notice notifications
New button on the sidebar to view all groups on a site
Long Infobar messages now display properly
   Improved, more intelligent account discovery
A configuration system, including a statusnet.config file for controlling default behavior
A settings panel for controlling sounds and notifications
   Stability improvements

   Lots of bug fixes

Open Source and Developers

One of our goals by releasing the Desktop and Mobile clients is that we hope that many developers will use our liberally Apache licensed code to add features and fix bugs on the clients. We hope that developers will expand the software far beyond our own considerations, and that we can hopefully work together to make them better. If you are new to open source development, let me encourage you and your team to talk with us direct. The StatusCrew are some nice guys and we love to meet and indoctrinate more StatusCrew when we speak at events around the world, or even in our chat channel.

Here are some ways to work together on the Desktop and Mobile clients:

We love to reward contributors with praise! If you add some code or submit a patch let us know!
