StatusNet in the iPhone App Store

Montreal, Monday, 27 Sept 2010 - The official StatusNet application is now available in the iPhone App Store. The StatusNet app makes it easy to connect to a StatusNet site, share images and updates, and track what people in a network are doing. The iPhone app joins StatusNet's Android application and desktop client as enhanced channels to the StatusNet server.

Evan Prodromou, CEO of StatusNet, said, "Our iPhone app is another way that StatusNet users can stay in touch with their network. We hope that this new, free app will make it easier for enterprises, groups and individuals to adopt StatusNet for their microblogging needs."

The Open Source mobile client is available under the liberal Apache Public License 2.0. It supports posting from the device, sending attachments, and public, profile and friends timelines. Users can connect to accounts on multiple StatusNet sites from the same device.

"As more companies support their employees bringing their personal phones to work, we believe the iPhone will be an important device for the enterprise," says Prodromou. "This app will help those companies stay connected in real time."

Could someone explain what I

Could someone explain what I have to enter for "Server" when using the iPhone app. It seems everybody except me knows. But I couldn't find any info on this? Secret sience?

from computer to phone

Hello, I have this doubt on calling from computer to cell, and/or satellite and/or local fixed phone. Would be possible to do it from identi.ca, even video sessions, from remote locations.
Imagine a desert without any 'electronic' resources.

Thank you, and regards for your amazing job.

I don't think so

So, you want to make phone calls from your computer to your phone, but without any connections?

I'm a little confused.

only last post seen

I am happy to see the iPhone app - but I have one problem: I only see the latest entry, just one! Could this be a server configuration problem?

I would also love to see a BlackBerry app because I have to stick with an old version of ÜbertTwitter since they do not support our status.net server in newer version.

I think I've seen an edge

I think I've seen an edge case where the wrong 'last seen' IDs get stored sometimes, which can cause problems like that: http://status.net/open-source/issues/2675

As a quick fix, you can try resetting the account state by deleting and re-adding the account on the client: hit the account selector at the top of the screen, then delete the account from the list. (The usual iPhone list style: hit 'edit', then the little delete button next to the list row, then confirm it.) Re-add the account, and it should re-fetch all its data.

If it's still bogus after that, pop some details of what site & account you're using to @support and we'll see if we can poke at it and get it worked out for you.

Official BlackBerry App?

I'm concerned as of when the blackberry smartphone (as i'm a decicated 9700 owner and don't wish to use a browser to read others posts and post updates for myself to others to read.

Ubertwitter used to have support to change the API's, now it doesn't anymore, until they release a newer version with their corrections to being able to change it again.

If an official blackberry client is to be released, things would rock out!

There's already the desktop client, the iphone client and now, android and blackberry should be next. If any are in the works or planning, feel free to hit me up on identi.ca as my name is also my account, and links to my viddler.

**peace**

Blackberry and Android

We already have an Android app in the market. Blackberry should be coming soon!

Blackberry Torch - native app?

I'm looking forward to being able to access identi.ca from my Torch in a way that improves on the awkward access afforded now through its browser.

Just adding my name to the list of those waiting - so to notch up ever so slightly your priority of getting this done.

Cheers!

We do plan to release a

We do plan to release a Blackberry version, but are currently waiting on completion of Blackberry support in the Titanium framework we've been building on. When it's ready, we'll try and get it going!

Accessibility

Awesome App! But unfortunately not fully accessible for blind Iphone Users. I hope we can find a way of fully implementing VoiceOver support of this app.

We'll be checking that out!

We'll be checking that out!
