StatusReport: Sharism Conference, Freedom in the Cloud Miniconference & GSoC Mentor Summit.

StatusNet is on the road this week, travelling to different continents to attend and present at various conferences. It is important that members of the Federated Social Web gather, discuss, and share their experiences.

Jon Phillips is a moderator and organizer of the Sharism Conference in Shanghai which is taking place on Friday October 22,2010. He will be talking on Friday from 1:00pm to 1:30pm. StatusNet's Nate Prodromou will also be attending the conference and he will be giving a presentation on "Building the Federated Social Web with Status.Net, Diaspora, Google and You!" from 2:00pm to 2:30pm.

Have you heard about the Freedom in the Cloud Miniconference? Jon Phillips and Francois Marier are organizing this conference which will be taking place in Brisbane, Australia on January 24th, 2011. The purpose of the conference is to cater to all cloud enthusiasts. It should be noted that the deadline for discussion proposals is approaching, and so get your proposals in before Friday October 22, 2010.

Upcoming Events

This weekend is the Google Summer of Code Mentor Summit, and StatusNet's Zach Copley and Brion Vibber are attending. StatusNet's community superhacker, Craig Andrews, will also be attending. Zach will be discussing Federated Social Networks, Brion will be covering Federated Social Networks, data autonomy, wikis, and Craig will be talking about Federated systems, IM networks, and "apps" (as in Facebook/OpenSocial).

StatusNet's James Walker will be attending DrupalCamp Montreal which is taking place on Saturday October 23rd and Sunday the 24th. On Saturday, James will be keynoting on Keeping Drupal connected to the open web.

James will also be presenting Federating the Social Web at the Free Software and Open Source Symposium (FSOSS) on Friday October 29th.
