StatusReport: FSOSS, StatusNet 0.9.6 release candidate, ad server changes on Identi.ca.

A familiar face that seems to be popping up everywhere lately is that of James Walker, Senior Services Architect for StatusNet. Not only did he present at last week's DrupalCamp Montreal, but he is also presenting today at the Free Software and Open Source Symposium.

Latest updates

James Walker will also be presenting Federating the Social Web at the Free Software and Open Source Symposium (FSOSS) today. It will be held at the Seneca@York Campus, and James will be presenting at 2:00pm.

In Brion Vibber's recent blog post, StatusNet 0.9.6 release candidate: OAuth API changes, he talks about how OAuth authentication for the Twitter-compatible API has been updated significantly and he also points out the changes that have been made. In a blog post by Evan Prodromou, Evan explains about what is going on with the ad server changes on Identi.ca in his latest blog post.

And finally, last weekend's DrupalCamp Montreal went really well. As we had mentioned previously, James Walker gave a presentation on "Keeping Drupal Connected". You can go over his presentation here if you happened to miss it.

In a recent blog post from Luke Fitzgerald, one of the StatusNet Google Summer of Code students, Luke talks about how he worked on IRC and MSN (WLM) interface plugins for StatusNet.

Upcoming Events

Next week, http://mozilla.status.net and Jon from StatusNet will be participating at Mozilla Drumbeat. The purpose of Drumbeat "is to gather smart, creative people... to improve the open web". The festival will be held in Barcelona from November 3rd until the 5th.

Jon will be speaking at the Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit (FSCONS) on November the 7th. The conference will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden from November the 5th to the 7th. While in Sweden, Jon will also be making a presentation at the University of Sweden.

Later on in November, Jon will be speaking at FOSSASIA which will be taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from November 12th until the 14th.
