Upgrading Identi.ca and other StatusNet cloud sites to 1.0.0rc1
We feel ready! We've been working on StatusNet 1.0 for more than a year, with the first alpha and beta release happening earlier this summer. We've done bug-squashing and hacking and GSoC, and we think it's ready to go.
Because there are major changes to the data structures, we'll be doing a significant amount of downtime over the weekend, starting Friday 9/16 at 1PM EDT. Our expectation is to be back online by Monday morning EDT.
Personal sites on the StatusNet cloud will come up first, and you can watch this blog or cloud.status.net for details as we move along.
Thanks for your patience -- we're all excited to see 1.0.0 go live on the cloud!

Did you remove twitter integration...please tell me you didn't...I used identi.ca as a way to update twitter then twitter to facebook...so convient 1 status update covered all 3 sites.

Hi Evan, that's fantastic! I can't wait to see the new release in action. Numbers are just that, but 1.0 is definitely quite the symbolic milestone :-)

Message length
Great news !
Good job guys, I tested some 1.0 snpashots and the changes are impressive.
I'd like to hear more about the characters limit though, since I've seen you disabled the limit on the default config. Are you planning on limitting messages to 140 characters for twitter export for example ?
