StatusNet Closes $875K Seed Financing Round

Montreal, Canada - StatusNet, the company that develops an Open Source micro-blogging platform, has completed an $875,000 financing round. Investors include local venture capital groups Montreal Start Up and iNovia Capital as well as European angel investor Oleg Tscheltzoff of Fotolia.com.

“We're excited by the opportunity for growth this investment brings,” says Evan Prodromou, CEO of StatusNet Inc.

A quick note (yeah, I know, it's always a "quick note") that I'll be at the ChangeMedium Toronto (#cmToronto) event tomorrow, October 24, in Toronto ON.

#cmToronto is an unconference for the people who are building the real-time web (micro-messaging, mobile web, what have you).

StatusNet at ReadWrite Real-Time Web Summit

A quick note: October 15th is the occasion of the ReadWrite Real-Time Web Summit put on by our friends at ReadWriteWeb. The one-day event will take place at the Computer History Museum (1401 N. Shoreline Blvd.) in Mountain View, CA.

We'll have not one but three StatusNet staff at the RWW Real-Time event.
