After some swapping my schedule around since I've been speaking about the Federated Social Web at Joi Ito and Digital Garage's New Context Conference in Tokyo, I'l be speaking mid-day in London about connecting the social web.

StatusNet is a great platform for enterprise microblogging. Our biggest source of interest is from unhappy IT professionals who are frustrated with Yammer's user acquisition model and high fees. Today, we're happy to announce the launch of our Yammer import tool, to help organizations migrate their social networking data out of Yammer and into a platform they control.

The StatusNet app makes it easy to connect to a StatusNet site, share images and updates, and track what people in a network are doing. The iPhone app joins StatusNet's Android application and desktop client as enhanced channels to the StatusNet server.

StatusNet is growing and becoming more popular each and every day! Not only did we manage to avoid an attack, one that was felt by Twitter users from all over the world this past Tuesday, but we also released our mobile client onto the Android App Market. We could not have done all of this without the great people that work for StatusNet, our investors, and those of us who make up the StatusNet community. For a limited time, we are offering 25% off of our premium package to Cloud beta users if they would like to upgrade before our general release.

I woke up this morning to news of the onMouseOver XSS attack that was running through Twitter at the time. Users of StatusNet should be happy to note that the bug does not seem to affect our software -- even for notices imported from Twitter. I wanted to take this opportunity to discuss security issues in a federation context.
