Founded by experienced professionals from the Open Source and Wiki communities, StatusNet Inc. is headquartered in Montreal, Canada and has offices around the world. We actively support the Status.Net open source software community both as a contributor and by providing developer resources. We also provide professional support contracts and customization services for companies that use the StatusNet software on their servers for intranet or Internet micro messaging.

Evan (@evan) is the founder of StatusNet and the creator of the StatusNet software. His previous experience includes creating the Open Content travel guide, Wikitravel. He serves as CEO and lead developer for StatusNet, Inc.

Brion Vibber (@brionv) is an open-source developer based in San Francisco, bringing his experience in highly scalable open social software to StatusNet as Senior Software Architect. As CTO of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation from 2005 to 2009, Brion lead development on Wikipedia's MediaWiki engine to keep the site stable and thriving through the community-built encyclopedia's massive growth in users and articles.

Nate Prodromou's picture

Nate Prodromou (@nate) comes to StatusNet with a long standing background in critical systems. He has 10 years of experience supporting high uptime financial data systems for hedge funds, venture capital groups, and private equity firms. Most recently Nate was with Farallon Capital Management, where he served in roles as Senior System Administrator, Head of International Systems, and Head of Systems. When not working for StatusNet, Nate runs a financial services IT consulting firm, AwesomeJar Consulting, in San Francisco, CA. Nate serves as the Director of Operations for StatusNet.

Christopher Murtagh (@xopher) was the web system architect for McGill University where he architected the server system and was the lead software developer of McGill's custom web publishing system. He founded McLUG (McGill's Linux User Group), and after leaving for freelance consulting specializing in open source software, worked for Terra Soft Solutions (the makers of Yellow Dog Linux) as a sysadmin and package builder. A lover of jazz and avant-garde music, he also has a small record label. Christopher serves StatusNet as senior systems engineer.

Emma Jane Hogbin has been working on the Web since 1996. Her infectious enthusiasm and ability to explain concepts without using technical jargon puts even the greatest technophobes at ease. Passionate about helping people to acquire knowledge, Emma Jane has been teaching open source technologies for over seven years. She volunteers with several open source documentation teams, has co-authored a best selling book, Front End Drupal, and is a frequent contributor to Linux Pro Magazine. She is a former coordinator for The Linux Documentation Project and is the co-founder of the Writing Open Source initiative.

Derek Derouin is a student at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University where he is majoring in Marketing and minoring in International Business. He is currently the VP of Academics for the John Molson Marketing Association. He worked for three years at Le Chateau, a Montreal-based clothing company, where he held a managerial position, stylist position, and had completed a one-year internship for the Le Chateau head office in Marketing. Derek is happy to be a member of the StatusNet team, where he holds a Marketing Intern position.
