The "xx-blog": Incorrect quoting of characters in invite email

Issue ID:3218
Issue Category:bug
Component:email
Priority:normal
Status:active
Assigned:Unassigned
Version:1.0

We're running an installation of Status.net 1.0beta5 at http://flexcloud.eu/statusnet/. The instance is called π-blog (pi-blog in case the character cannot be read).

In the invitation emails, the body appears to be correct but both the From value and the Subject line contain the word XX-blog instead of π-blog. From what it looks like, there is some rather insensitive sanitiser function running over the strings. It would probably be wiser to use quoted printable there so that all special characters appear correctly in the user-visible mail headers.

Updates

#1

Probably related to http://status.net/open-source/issues/422 (maybe just same issue). Looks like I poked partway through it but never quite finished the patch, needs testing to confirm.
