Each 5 seconds, identi.ca website reloads the timeline using Ajax but in Firefox a reload image appears in the tab. That is very annoying because it happens each 5 seconds.
Twitter doesn't do that, and when the user timeline is updated, the Pinned Tab has a different color. Identi.ca should do that as well, I see a lot of persons using Twitter in a Pinned Tab.

The reloading tab in the screenshot is Identi.ca...

I'm not seeing this in either Firefox 4.0/Linux or Firefox 5.0/Mac at http://identi.ca/ (regular view of public timeline), but I do see it crop up on both if I manually switch to https://identi.ca/ (SSL view of same page)
The SSL view of most pages is not well optimized and may even be officially unsupported still; it may be falling back to a less clean networking method for the real-time data fetches that's triggering the 'connecting' spinner.

Updating the title, as the unique issue here is that StatusNet should act in a certain way when being a pinned tab.
I have no idea how those things work though, does Firefox notice anything else than the fact that the page has updated its elements?
