Alias(es) for accounts

Being able to define aliases for my Identica/StatusNet account would help in the following ways:
- transparently link my username on another network, e.g., Twitter, to my account -- possibly offer the option to create such an alias when connecting an external account w/ a different name;
- upon changing my nickname and/or moving to or merging w/ another account (see: http://status.net/open-source/issues/2503), the switch would be transparent to my readers if my old nickname were made an alias of the new, thus redirecting hits on my old account to the new one.

I'd expect that the experience w/ group aliases would help guage the pros and cons of this for accounts.
