I've noted it too, with some tickets that were dents to my nickname, sent via IM.

Funny enough, when looking at them on the web, they seem fine.

This is most likely an xmpp issue, maybe xml encoding. Can you provide more details on your client?

For the notices I cite above I was using Pidgin 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 8.04.

Have you tried upgrading to the newer version of Pidgin? Or tried another im client and see if the problems still exist?

I'm almost certain I used Gtalk from Gmail but it was forever ago so I could be wrong.
