While a human managed list is nice to have, perhaps Laconica instances could ping back to http://somehost.laconi.ca/someurl to post info including...

* server status
* URL for source (per AGPL)
* # of users
* # of posts
* etc.

This would facilitate discovery, federation, cross-system track, etc.

Might want to add this ASAP so it's incorporated into as many deployments as possible. Flagging P1, Milestone 0.6 expecting it's likely to get deprio'd or deferred.

This is a really good idea, but it's not a top priority.
