Zur deutschsprachigen Version der Dokumentation

Die deutschsprachige Version der Dokumentation startete am 2. Oktober 2008 als Übersetzung der englischen Version 12. Wahrscheinlich wird das englische Original immer etwas aktueller sein, falls dir ein solcher Punkt auffällt aktualisiere ihn doch einfach.

Solange die Übersetzung noch nicht komplett ist, werden hier einige englische Passagen als informelle Platzhalter stehen bleiben.

Hinweis: Es kann durchaus sein, dass hier nicht alle Features von StatusNet beschrieben sind. Wenn dir das auffällt, dann füll doch einfach die Lücken und schreibe eine Dokumentation der Features!

Features

In Version 0.6.0 bietet StatusNet zwei Arten von Nachrichten (dents): öffentliche und direkte. Du kannst Nachrichten als Favoriten kennzeichnen, die mit Tags versehen und sie automatisch nach Twitter weiter leiten lassen. Zum senden von Nachrichten kannst du den Webbrowser, dein lieblings XMPP Programm oder eine von vielen anderen Desktop und Web Anwendungen verwenden.

Benutzung von StatusNet

Um eine auf StatusNet basierenden Microblogging Dienst nutzen zu können brauchst du natürlich einen Account. Der bekannteste Dienst ist wohl identica aber es gibt noch eine ganze Reihe weiterer Server darunter auch einige deutschsprachige. StatusNet implementiert das OpenMicroBlogging (OMB) Protokoll, u.a. bedeutet das, dass deine Kontakte auf beliebigen anderen Microblogging Servern aktiv sein können, solange die OMB implementiert haben, und ihr könnt einander euren Nachrichten folgen.

Das Webinterface

Das Webinterface ist die Hauptinterface zum StatusNet Server. Wenn du dich mit deinem Nutzerprofil angemeldet hast, kannst du hier alle Einstellungen ändern.

Die Hauptseite vom Webinterface besteht aus drei Teilen: dem Hauptmenü rechts vom Logo, einer Eingabebox und der öffentlichen Zeitachse.

Um eine Nachricht an den Server zu schicken, schreibe sie einfach in die Eingabebox und drücke den Send Button. Deine Nachricht sollte augenblicklich in der öffentlichen Zeitlinie erscheinen.

via XMPP

Um StatusNet mit XMPP (Jabber / Google Talk) benutzen zu können musst du nur den XMPP Bot deines StatusNet Servers in die Kontaktliste aufnehmen (auf identi.ca ist das update[at]identi.ca). Nun musst du noch die Einstellungen im IM Tab vornehmen und anschließend erscheint jede Nachricht die du dem Bot sendets in der öffentlichen Zeitachse des StatusNet Servers.

Wenn du "help" an den Bot schickst, gibt er dir eine kleine Übersicht zurück was er alles für dich tun kann. In der Version 0.6.0 versteht der Bot folgende Befehle:

 on     - turn on notifications
 off    - turn off notifications
 help   - show this help 
 sub    - subscribe to user
 unsub  - unsubscribe from user

via email

Um dents per Email veröffentlichen zu können, musst du zunächst eine Incoming email Adresse unter "Settings -> Email" erstellen. Anschließend kannst du mit der Emailadresse die du deinem StatusNet Server als Kontaktadresse hinterlegt hast, Nachrichten an diese Adresse senden.

Bei den Einstellungen ist es wichtig auf Groß- und Kleinschreibung zu achten. Testaddress[at]example.com ist also nicht das gleiche wie testaddress[at]example.com!

Öffentlichen Zeitlinie

Die öffentliche Zeitlinie ist der live Stream aller Nachrichten, die gepostet werden, es sei denn man schreibt eineDirekte Nachricht. Jeder kann Nachrichten in der öffentlichen Zeitlinie lesen und auf sie antworten.

Das Hauptmenü - Wohin führen die Links?

The main menu, located at the top of the page consists of six links: Home, Search, Tags, Settings, Invite and Logout.The Home link points to your profile (see below).

Tags

Following the Tag link, you'll reach a cloud of the recent tags. The entries in the cloud are linked with a list of all dents, that where taged with that word.

Tags are used to categorize dents. Tags are linked with an overview page, that shows all notices that got marked with the tag.

To set a tag you have to prefix the tag-to-be with a hash (that's the #). Currently (as of StatusNet version 0.6.0) tags may contain ASCII characters (alphanumeric and underscores) UPPER, lower and mixed case, but no UTF8.

Search

Here you can search either for people on a StatusNet server, or a piece of text in the public notices. The search item have to have three (3) or more letters. You can search for more than one word at once, separating the search items with a space.

Logical expressions and the order of your search items are ignored.

Invite

Since version 0.6.0 you can invite friends to StatusNet based platforms. Following the Invite link brings you to a form with two boxes. In the upper one you list the email addresses of the people you wish to invite, one per line, and in the lower you can add a message to be sent along with the default message. If the person accepts the invitation you'll be notified.

Invitation emails consist of a short introduction of the server and who invited you. With links to the profile of the member who send out the invitation and to register at the server.

If you invite somebody that is already active at the StatusNet server, you will automatically be subscribed to that account.

Dein Profil - die Tabs und was sich dahinter verbirgt

Wenn du dem Home Link im Hauptmenü folgst landest du in deinem Profil auf dem StatusNet Server. Im Moment (d.h. Version 0.6.0 von StatusNet) ist dein Profil in sechs Bereiche aufgeteilt:

personal

In der persönlichen Zeitlinie werden alle Nachrichten gesammelt die du und all jene denen du zuhörst in StatusNet schreiben.

replies

Hier finden sich die Antworten auf deine Nachrichten wieder. Wobei StatusNet alle Nachrichten die ein @deinnutzername enthalten als Antwort an dich zählt. Antworten sind genauso öffentlich wie andere Nachrichten auch--wenn du nicht willst das andere deine Antworten lesen können, antworte lieber mit einer direkten Nachricht.

profile

Die Profilseite zeigt deine persönlichen Informationen an, die du in den Einstellungen anpassen kannst. Außerdem ist im Profil eine kleine Statistik deiner Aktivitäten auf dem StatusNet Server, die Liste deren bei denen du subscribed bist und die Sammlung all der Nachrichten die du geschrieben hast (abgesehen von den direkten Nachrichten) verzeichnet.

favorites

Since version 0.6.0 StatusNet supports marking a notice as favorite, like bookmarks in your browser. All the notices you marked as favorite will be listed in the Favorites tab of your profile. Everybody can browse your favorites.

To mark a notice as favorite, there is a button in the near of the notice, depending on the styling. The author of the notice will receive an email notification, that you marked the dent as your favorite.

At identica it's a small heart at the right side of the notice.

direct notices [inbox / outbox]

Since version 0.6.0 you can send direct messages other StatusNet users, as long as both of you are subscribed to each other. If this is the case, you'll find a link below the avatar of the users profile. The inbox and outbox tabs are not publicly visible and will only be displayed if you are logged in and view your own profile.

Direct messages will not show up in the public timeline. They will only be visible in the Inbox and Outbox tabs of your profile. If you receive a direct message, you'll be notified with an email containing the direct message and a link to reply to the message.

Currently direct messages can only be send using the web interface of StatusNet. In the near future it is planned to add an API for this.

twitter bridge (0.6.0)

Um die eingebaute Twitter-Bridge von StatusNet (ab der Version 0.6.0) zu nutzen musst du zunächst in den Einstellungen im "Twitter" Tab Nutzername und Passwort eingeben. Anschließend werden all deine dents an Twitter weiter gesendet.

Um die Bridge zu deaktivieren, einfach im "Twitter" Tab auf 'Remove' klicken.

Wie kann ich meinen Account löschen?

Im Moment (d.h. StatusNet Version 0.6.0) gar nicht. Es ist aber für Version 0.7.0 geplant diese Funktion einzubauen (s. Ticket #155).
