What is the difference between a status.net account like me.status.net and an identica account like identi.ca/me?
Identi.ca is a micro-blogging service powered by StatusNet. You can use it to write short notices about yourself, where you are, and what you're doing, and those notices will be sent to all your friends and fans.
How is Identi.ca different from Twitter, Jaiku, Pownce, Plurk, others?
Identi.ca is an Open Network Service. Our main goal is to provide a fair and transparent service that preserves users' autonomy. In particular, all the software used for Identi.ca is Free Software, and all the data is available under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, making it Open Data.
The software also implements the OpenMicroBlogging protocol, meaning that you can have friends on other microblogging services that can receive your notices.
The goal here is autonomy -- you deserve the right to manage your own on-line presence. If you don't like how Identi.ca works, you can take your data and the source code and set up your own server (or move your account to another one).
See Why identi.ca is different from other services for more information.
How is having an Identi.ca account different from having a Single User Cloud Account on status.net?
Identi.ca is a community using the status.net software. When you create a Single User Cloud Account you have your own (one person) instance of a status.net installation. You can configure certain settings: increase your notices from 140 characters to 200, 400 or more. You can also change the background of your status.net homepage.
What does Facebook Connect on Identi.ca do?
Facebook connect allows you to login and create an account that is connected to your facebook identity. there is also a facebook canvas app that lets to push your identi.ca posts to facebook where they will show up as status updates. http://apps.facebook.com/identica
Where is feature X?
The software we run, StatusNet, is still in development, and many features people expect from microblogging sites are not yet implemented. Some important ones that are expected 'soon' are:
- SMS updates and notifications
- More AJAX-y interface
- Cross-post to Pownce, Jaiku, etc.
- Pull messages from Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, etc.
- Facebook integration - openmicroblogging- --> facebook status update provided by http://apps.facebook.com/openmicroblogging/
- Image, video, audio notices
I used to be able to see the favourites and replies of other users; where'd that go?
- With the StatusNet 0.9.7 update that functionality disappeared from the UI. You can still get it by manually appending `/all' to the url of a user's page. For example,

How can I edit the languages?
- I'd like to edit parts of the languages. For example, if you would want to change the phrase "Friends" into "Buddies", how would I do that? I couldn't find a language file.
Where is HTML stored?

or run this command
/statusnet/scripts/setconfig site inviteonly 1
