Google Code-In 2010

The GCI is somewhat similar to the annual Summer of Code projects, but focuses on smaller, more discrete tasks and is open to high-scool age kids.

This is a great opportunity to provide some good "bite-size" tasks that tend to get left aside and forgotten -- code cleanup, documentation fixes, theme tweaks. All the regular maintenance that a good open source project needs, and that any young programmer cutting their teeth can help out with!

Project ideas

These should be small, 'bite-sized' projects. Often, clean-up or 'annoyance' issues, as well as many small features from the bug tracker will be suitable (but not every bug is a good candidate):

  • Create a new theme
  • Improve the InfiniteScroll plugin, making it work "perfectly" and up to enable-able by default standards
  • Clean up doc comments
  • Merge API documentation from wiki into doc comments
  • Update plugin table definitions for 1.0 schema format
  • Update tinymce plugin to "automatically" link @-mentions, !-groups and #-tags
