• The StatusCheck event is tonight, Wednesday July 21, 2010, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, and it is being held at Henry's Tavern in Portland, Oregon! Everyone is welcome to come and join us for some drinks and great conversation.
• According to Jon Phillips (Community Director at StatusNet), the Federated Social Web Summit firmly planted a flag in the ground about concrete steps to keep improving the state of federating social features across the open web. Every participate gave a 5 minute presentation about what they are doing with federation, then we spent the afternoon hacking and whiteboarding together. While many people knew each other, it served as a collaboration and connection point for new friends and companies to work together.
• The Open Source Conference OSCON 2011 is taking place all this week! Evan Prodromou (CEO and founder of StatusNet) will be contributing to a presentation tonight, entitled Web Services: How Can Open Source Software Compete?, and on Friday July 23rd, he will make another presentation entitled Open Source and the Federated Social Web.
