Talk:StatusWall
As mentioned on Requests#Hardware_Gadgets it uses the same electronics as StatusPad but with a VGA/HDMI connector so you can use a projector to display all messages on a big screen. Use clutter to have fancy effects.
- this would suggest it has a touchscreen?
- what type of input. alternative: read config from SD?
- VGA is easy to drive (if it needs to be a full open design)
- alternative is to use a USB2VGA solution as a way to re-use existing hw. sisusbvga/DisplayLink? this allows the beagleboard as an option.
- software
- SDL based or Clutter? SDL could a good and easy way. This would also allow a simple UI running from a Nanonote board.
I would suggest a Hawkboard as the alternative to the Beagleboard. it is cheaper and has VGA and network. The nanonote is currently only available as a full device (with screen, which adds to the price). It could be possible to use only the mainboard and drive VGA from it, add network to SDIO... but currently this is not an option. Maybe I should contact Wolfgang about possible devel board. Qi hardware does have the AVT2 devel board, but it is pricier than a hawkboard. (which some would consider a small trade-off to openness) --Gbraad
